DESCRIPTION
“Cool Prison” began as a real moment.
Driving past a fortress-like correctional facility rising out of the landscape, someone said what the architecture seemed to demand: “Whoa. Cool prison.”
The phrase stuck. Both literal and philosophical.
A prison can be concrete walls and watchtowers. It can also be the structures we willingly inhabit: professional expectations, cultural awareness, self-discipline, improvement, reputation. The systems we move through and maintain.
Sometimes the response is admiration. Sometimes resignation.
Sometimes it’s both.
A small object marking the strange moment when constraint and aspiration become indistinguishable.
